Settle down, it’ll all be clear
Full name:Catone Marino
Nickname: Rino, if you're desperate.
Alias: Il Gondolier, Rino Callise
Gender: Male
Age/Birthday: 24 years, June 9th
Celebrity Claim: n/a
If you get lost you can always be found
Time Period: Renaissance
Appearance: Catone is a young man of average height, average looks, he basically screams average. Probably one of the reasons he's never suspect of anything. Black hair tied back in a small ponytail, his somewhat masculine facial features have occasionally attracted the attentions of many a lonely female passenger(along with some men, but let's not talk about that). Green eyes stare at the world, knowing it's true nature and not caring for those who seek power. His day outfit is the sleeveless shirt and old pants worn without any footware, while his Assassin regalia is quite different. A white shirt with brown pants, you wouldn't pay him a second glance. However, the brown vest that featured a hood gives him the trademark shadowed face of his Order. Two belts holding various knives are present, on around his waist and other diagonal across his chest. His boots are worn, but they're reliable.
Height: 5'11
Distinguishing Features: A small scar hides itself among his right eyebrow, barely noticeable from a distance further than two feet. His left knee was injured years ago, now serving an Achilles heel, wound it and he falls. Otherwise, he has a faint limp while running
Just know you’re not alone
Personality: Catone is a rather reserved individual, keeps to himself. He seems like he has his secrets and you'd be right to assume so. After all, he is part of an ancient order of silent killers. The interactions he has had with the world has given him a sense of necessity for freedom. Scrounging around while the nobility had everything on a golden platter has made him believe that the world is warped and that the Templars' plans were even worse than the present. The only people who truly know him would be the Brotherhood. Likely, if you're a fellow Assassin, you have had a longer conversation with him than most.
Fears: Irrational phobias of flame and lightning, respectively. Afraid of failure, afraid of desertion.
Goals: To halt the Templars' plan of complete dominance, to just survive as a member in the Order, maybe retire, someday write a book full of poems
Likes: Swimming, music, a good conversation, riddles, gossip
Dislikes: unsolvable puzzles, cheating spouses, tears, overweight nobles who capsize his gondola, people who mess with his mandola
Strengths: He has an affinity for knives, is an expert in almost anything boat-related, doesn't stand out much in a crowd, one of the best informants in Venice.
Weaknesses: His two phobias, fight long reached weaponry, fighting medium reached weaponry, his bum knee, stubborn to a fault
Talents: A closet artist, Catone is quite the poet and singer. He could've been a bard had the pay been better. He also is a good thinker, making him great at solving puzzles. Being a Gondolier also taught him to be a decent listener, giving it only sound advice, but keeping tabs on the denizens of the Floating City.
Habits/Quirks: When's he's bored, he whistles. Should you see him around someone or something he dislikes, his hands curl and unfurl into fists to the rhythm of his popping knuckles. Catone also has the affinity to clap his hands and shout something unintelligible when he solves a puzzle or riddle.
Occupation: Gondolier
Alliance: Assassin
Cause I’m gonna make this place your home.
History: Catone was the bastard son of Eloisa Marino, a noblewoman, and an unknown lover. Disowned by the Marino family, they were abandoned to live without any support. However, an education goes a long way. Soon, they were taken in by an old bookseller who cared for m as if they were his child and grandchild. Eloisa worked the finances while the boy began to grow and take on the chores required by a shop. But, lightning struck and flames role away the store and his small family with it.
Without any other option, the teen stole a small gondola and started charging for rides. However, the guard soon put a top to that. When he stood on trial, he was sentenced to work under a nobleman as their personal gondolier, only is life because said nobleman's wife had a fondness for black hair, green eyed strapping young men and took pity on the boy. Catone was only at the beginning of his troubles. Keeping a keen ear, he soon discovered his master to be involved with a group known as the Templars. Sneaking into the nobleman's study one night, he was attacked by a woman in a white hood. The scuffle that followed drew the attention of his master who stormed in. With the light from the candle, the woman looked at the nobleman and drove a blade into his neck. Shocked, Catone was then knocked out by a fist to the back of his head.
Marino awoke surrounded by Assassins. As it turned out, he was mistaken for his master in the dark and when the two recruits had knocked him out to take him back to headquarters, he was the prime suspect in the nobleman's death. The veterans quickly apologized and explained the secret war and all that to him. Trying to make up for his position as the scapegoat, he was offered a room while the elder Assassins found a way to strike his name from the records and give him a new life. Oddly enough, he grew accustomed to the Order and when he was finally free to go a few months later, he didn't.
He was trained in their ways and became one of them what felt like almost overnight, but it was closer to five years. However, he couldn't keep cooped up and only going out on missions. Desiring some kind of outside interaction, he went out and bought a gondola under the name "Rino Callise", continuing the work of his youth. Now, he is the Order's eyes and ears in Venezia, as well as one of their blades....
