Fears:
Heights. As a child, Danny had a fall from a tall height in which he was injurred, and heights have bothered him ever since.
Abandonment. Danny is afraid that he is replacable, and always worries that his friends and colleagues will leave him behind.
Losing his little sister. She's back home, and he knows (or at least hopes) that she's safe, but his biggest fear is that she will be harmed by this dangerous world we live in.

Goals:
Don't die. It sound simple enough, but it's a dangerous world, and the seas are a rough place. Staying alive is his number one priority right now.
Amass enough wealth to allow himself and his family to live comfortably.
Maintain his position in the Navy without being promoted or demoted; he likes the status quo.

Likes:
Money. There's no way around it. Danny enjoys having money almost as much as he enjoys spending it.
Booze. Not all the time, of course. And he's careful not to be drunk when on duty. But at least a drink or two in off time is a recipe for happiness.
Teamwork. One thing he's learned while being in the Navy is that a crew that works together well cannot be beaten.
Being on dry land. Danny never realized how much he loved being on steady footing until he was stationed on a ship. He doesn't hate being out to sea, but he definitely prefers being on land.

Dislikes:
High-and-mighty gentlemen types. He doesn't hate them, and certainly some people can grow on him despite this nature, but he doesn't like being stuffy and gentlemanly. It's too much work.
Death. He hates it. He hates killing people (which he has only had to do on very rare occasion), and he gets the "heeby jeebies" if he's near dead bodies.
In fact, Danny hates the idea of war in general. He understands the need for an active military, and knows that you can't leave yourself defenseless, but the idea that he has joined up with a goverment organization created to combat other people really has him perturbed; he never thought about it before he enlisted.
Similarly, Danny has a strong dislike for religion. He has seen enough bad things done in the name of one god or another that it's all left a sour taste in his mouth. He maintains appearances, but in his heart, his faith is gone.
Swimming. It just gets to him. There are so many ways to die in the water. At least on a ship, he's got a floor to stand on.

Strengths:
Working as a cog in the machine. He fits his position within a team well, and does his job without attracting too much attention, whether positive or negative.
Art. Danny started drawing as a young child and continued his practice throughout adulthood. He keeps a pad of paper and charcoal with or near him at all times.
A talented swordsman. Danny spent a great deal of time perfecting his sword arm, mostly as a method of combating boredom until he realized he was actually getting pretty good.
Morale. Danny's attitude is generally positive, and even when it isn't, he does his best to boost the morale of those around him.

Weaknesses:
A lack of ambition. Danny is content to let things remain the same, even if they're not great. The status quo is preferable to change.
While he isn't a raging alcoholic, sometimes he lets his alcohol consumption spread into other aspects of his life, and it can get messy.
Gambling. It's hard to turn down a bet. Not impossible, just hard.
While he's not particularly naive, Danny is very susceptible to sob stories.


Talents:

Drawing. His talent for drawing borders on prodigy, and he hopes that his sketches and doodles will one day make a legacy for himself.
Swordplay. He took to it like a fish to water.
Charisma. Danny's good at making friends, and calming high tempers. He considers it his greatest quality.

Habits/Quirks:

He loves to chew on things. Not like a maniac or anything, just the ends of writing utensiles and the like.
He's just a touch lazy.
